Writing Crunch Time

These past couple of days the intensity of instruction has been at its highest! With just a couple of more days to go for state testing, these past couple of days we have practiced extremely hard those writing concepts and techniques that makes our writing blossom. As much as I have taught all those nitty gritty concepts there are still students in my class whose writing is still in the works. Explicit instruction with these small groups of kids has to be beyond productive.
To help those who are still struggling, I decided to color code the writing planners with the different section that their essay would need. After reviewing the part of the essay with them using colors, their little light bulb just lit up in their head. I felt such happiness and relief.  We are currently; in our second day of trying this out and am super excited with the results.

I would love to hear some feedback ont his download. I am currently in the words of  planning my writing units for next year and would love all the feedback possible.

I am linking up with Stephanie over at Falling Into First and her fabulous linky party. This week theme is share a teaching tip. Well what better way to share a writing tip with these great linky party. So head on over to Falling Into First and see other team teaching tip.

Simple Tenses To Unwind

The kiddos have been working hard with simple tenses over the last couple of weeks. It started as a mini unit and it ended like a whole unit on verbs. Many of these concepts were known but they need it reinforcement to clear up confusion and common mistake that many students that are bilingual often makes. After completing the Human Sentence whole group activity , the kiddos where ready for some more! We had so much fun completing this activity that I had to show what we were up today.

Welcome to Upper Grade Reading!

Happy Monday! I can’t believe this is happening right now. My new addition and blog dream is not just a dream but also a reality. I am ecstatic to begin this journey new journey!

My previous blog KinderLoves, I felt  did not really encompass my journey as an upper grade teacher. Even though, KinderLoves its where all of my blog addiction began, I feel that this blog will bring all of my expertise and knowledge that I have gained to showcase in one place.

Where to begin? Well, of course with a grand freebie! Is a party y’all! To ring in such excitement I decided to start Monday with a freebie and link up to Manic Monday at Classroom Freebies hosted by Charity Preston! Click on the FREEBIE below to snag. Remember to donate with lovely comments. I always look forward to those!
